New Year's Interviews

2015 began in an extraordinary way...Ian and I going to sleep by 10 pm. Fun times. It was totally worth it though. Pregnancy insomnia and reaching that largely uncomfortable stage means that sleep is elusive and highly valued.

I had intentions of getting away to a coffee shop and setting some goals for the year but after some (quick) thinking I realized my only goals were:

1.) Have a baby and enjoy the newborn stage
2.) Love on my husband and children
3.) Survive another Abu Dhabi summer

Sure, I would love it if I blogged more, completed more yearly photo albums, and checked off some bucket list items, but, if I am being realistic, then goals 1, 2, and 3, will be enough to fill my plate.

Grace and I did her New Year's Interview, following in the footsteps of last year's. This time was alot more last minute and unscripted but I love it anyways!

And Sophia wanted in on the action after she saw Grace get to sit in the rocking chair (which is a bad place to sit a moving preschooler if you are trying to capture a picture or a video, just FYI.)

And then Grace got upset that I had forgotten to ask her about school, so we did a round two for her!

I love these videos. They so capture my girls' personalities, except Grace is usually much louder and easier to understand.

So, here's to 2015. Another year of change and growth for our little family!

New Year's Interviews

The Accent Vlog

Since I am doing my best to fall even more helplessly behind on what is going on in our day to day lives, including Sophia's other 1st birthday party, first (and subsequent) trips to Disney, Grace's first haircut, and a weekend getaway to North Georgia, I decided now was the best time to pull out the stall tactics.

Enter, the accent vlog.

A couple of months ago, when I did my first vlog, I had several people comment on my "accent."

I have never, EVER considered myself to have an accent.

In fact, I've kind of prided myself on that fact.

So you can imagine my surprise, nay, dismay, when at least a dozen people said "I love your accent!"

What?!

I'm from Florida, which is about as far North as you can get while still being in the South (mostly.) Neither of my parents have southern accents and none of my friends did either.

Of course I knew of people who had accents, but it was not me!

My mom and her side of the family are actually from up North, so, if anything, I would say I have a few habits in that direction, rather than the other. In fact, when I was little I had to go to a speech therapist (for an "R" issue,) and was told that I had a Boston accent!

So, I slipped outside during naptime, set my camera precariously on the porch railing, and pretended you were sitting in the rocking chair next to me.

Please ignore the angry eyebrows, swatting of flies, and flipping of my hair.
I considered redoing it, but this seems more real, doesn't it?

The Accent Vlog

Five Things That Have Surprised Me

Well, here it is. My first ever Vlog. And for those of you who don't know what is a vlog is (hi Mom, Grandma, and other relatives!) it is just a video blog!

I really thought I had done one before but apparently, I hadn't. Actually, I went back and found out that the day I was planning on putting one together was the very day that we announced that we were expecting...Grace! Almost three years ago.

Apparently it got put on the back burner.

But here we are, four years later and I thought I would give it a whirl.

Please disregard the hair pushing or my constant looking out the window (there were literally hummingbirds flitting around.)

Also, I've had a cold for the last couple of days and seeing as I usually hate hearing my voice on recordings and how I love this one, I'm guessing I don't actually sound like myself.

And, since the tv repairman called right at the end, I will finish by saying that I have adjusted and make Ian give me a kiss all the time in public :) Men, besides my dad, wanting to give side hugs still weirds me out a bit but I'm working on it!
