Christmas 411

Mrs. A had this cute Christmas meme up, so since I really had not much to say today, I thought this would be fun!

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Oh definitely wrapping. It just looks like the person took time to take care of your gift rather than shove it in a bag! I think it makes gift giving a little more about the thought than the actual gift!

2. Real tree or Artificial? Definitely real. My whole childhood we had a real tree. Ian and I will be buying a fake one during the after Christmas sales to put in our storage unit for overseas. Apparently Jordan doesn't have a ton of Christmas stuff available. Crazy Middle East. ( I kid, I kid, I'm not that ignorant!)

3. When do you put up the tree? Whenever we find time, but never during a football game, because my Dad would miss the decorating.

4. When do you take the tree down? Within a week after New Years. It helps to extend the season a little bit.

5. Do you like eggnog? YES! YUM! My Mother in law and I downed about a gallon of it in 3 days! Good thing it wasn't spiked.

6. Favorite gift received as a child? My American Girl doll. It was a Bitty Baby and I just loved that thing so much.

7. Hardest person to buy for? My brothers in law. They like to give joke gifts and I like to get people stuff they will actually use, not laugh at and throw away. So sue me. Ian wanted to buy his brother a cd of hard metal songs that are all named after Arnold S quotes (from his movies.) I vetoed that one.

8. Easiest person to buy for? Tie between my dad (anything with the Florida Gators,) and my husband (Ian's got a "want" list of books that is literally 15 pages long.)

9. Do you have a nativity scene? No, but I really, really want a Willow Tree nativity set. *sigh* One day.

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail! We bought our stamps today and are just waiting for our pictures to come back from the photographer!

11.Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Erm. Used Earrings. Yeah. It was really weird. {the sad thing was, it wasn't even a white elephant gift}

12. Favorite Christmas Movie? Probably Home Alone, but I really like The Santa Clause as well!

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? The first week of December. And it's done by the second. I start planning and coupon collecting in early November however.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? No, I don't think I have!

15.Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Ham. I really, really, love pork products. Is that weird?

16. Lights on the tree? Is this a yes or no? If it is, than Yes, lights. I used to be stuck on colored lights, but I really like white ones now. Whenever we have kids, we'll probably revert to colored lights because it just makes it glow in a "non adult," kind of way.

17. Favorite Christmas song? Last year it was definitely Little Drummer Boy. I'll let you know about this year!

18.Travel at Christmas or stay home? Stay at home! I don't think I've ever been away from my home on Christmas!

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's? No, no I can not. I can almost get all of them, but there is someone missing. Must. Go. Google.

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? An Angel has always been on top of our family tree, but for Ian's and my future tree? I could go either way. An angel has always struck me as being kind of cruel (have you ever paid attention to the fact that you are sticking a tree limb up her dress? I'm just saying...)

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? open pajamas from parents on Christmas Eve, regular gifts on Morning

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? The craze over shopping and getting things that are "bigger and better." It also really bugs me that people go out shopping on Black Friday and get tons of stuff for themselves. I mean, really? Nothing says "the season of giving," like "look! 50% off a purse that I've always wanted!"

23. Favorite ornament theme or color? I like it eclectic, with a strong red, white, and silver color scheme.

24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? Have I mentioned I like ham?

25. What do you want for Christmas this year? I really want a new camera, but that is coming after Christmas when our first pay check comes in! So, just a hodge podge of portable (suitcase ready) things, such as cd's, books, scarves, gloves, etc.

26. Have you ever been caroling? Yes, but I really am a horrible singer. My parents and sister have beautiful voices, and somehow I missed that boat. Drat.

I think my favorite Christmas present as a child was my American Girl Doll too. I got Samantha when I was in probably 4th grade. I don't think I let that thing out of my sight for the next 2 years :-P

Is there anyone who doesn't like lights on their tree? I've never met one.
And I love caroling! We used to do it at my church, and I miss it.

I love caroling - we used to do it at our church, and I miss it.

The only time I ever went Christmas caroling was in HS and we sang the songs in Latin for extra credit. It was awesome-ly bad....I'm a terrible singer!
