What I Love Lately: Preschooler Edition

I have a few products and activites that have helped us get through a rough summer and I thought I would share them with you.

Grace is 3 years old and Sophia is 1 year and 11 months old (almost 2!)

Food: Frozen Fruit, specifically, frozen blueberries or grapes. It's HOT here and I love anything that is cool to help them chill out after a hot car ride. The blueberries are very messy though and can stain clothing, so they usually eat these without their shirts and with bibs (skin will get stained as well.)

TV Show: We've watched far too much TV this summer, but I'm okay with it because we've found some fabulous shows that they learn from, interact with, and talk about all the time! We love:

Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood- A spin off of Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, but updated and animated for this generation, this show addresses so many social and emotional issues that little toddlers and preschoolers are bombarded with. Sharing, frustration, being too small to do certain things, or being sick and needing rest, plus many more. They all incorporate catchy tunes that your child will remember when in similar situations. I've caught Grace singing "When you're feeling frustrated, take a step back, and ask for help!" many times. And Sophia growls like a tiger whenever she wants this show. Ha. We get our episodes off of iTunes on our Apple TV and love them! Grace also loves the clips of real kids doing something that is connected with the episode after each short 11-13 minute episode. Free on Amazon Prime

Wonder Pets- Put out by Nick Jr. many years ago, this was a show that I remembered from my nannying days. Cute classroom pets go on adventures to safe animals in perilous situations. Exposing them to a huge variety of animals, a large vocabulary (Grace knows what Sumiya is- a Japanese style of painting, from this show,) problem solving, cute songs, and is safe for even the littlest viewers (no villains!) We loved finding episodes about animals we had read about or about places we were going- like finding a Greece episode set at the Parthenon! Free on Amazon Prime

Music: Elizabeth Mitchell. This folksy singer is putting out music as part of the Smithsonian's attempt to preserve American folk music and reinvent the music for a young generation. I love so many of these songs, and those that are new to me are catchy and fun. We often listen to it while the girls are taking a bath- it helps control the chaos and loudness that they often fall into. They know the songs by heart and Grace can be heard singing them by herself sometimes. They may be raised far from the shores of the USA but we want to help them understand their heritage and past and music is one of the easiest way for them to learn about that right now. Can be found here or on iTunes

Books: We don't have libraries here and our city has very few book stores. So, what we have on our shelves is often all we have. Though we have a great collection of books and it grows with every holiday or birthday, it can get old reading the same books so often, as I think we get through our entire collection every day or two. I have an amazing friend here that used to be a preschool/kindergarten teacher here and she has an awesome collection of books that she has let me borrow from each week this summer. Sort of like our own personal library! I kept these books in a canvas bag out of reach of the kids and brought them down only when I was reading with them or in their room, to ensure that they were well cared for. Three of our favorite books this summer were:

Aaaarrrgghh! Spider!, Walking through the Jungle, and Pinkalicious

Toys: I didn't grow up with them, so I will admit, I am a novice and not very creative with them, but Lego Duplo's are a huge hit in our house. Sophia likes moving them around and knocking things down but can not quite put them together yet. Grace loves building and inventing and has a very specific idea in her head when she starts creating. I'm excited to grow our collection some this Christmas and even more excited for when Grace moves up to regular, small sized Legos, as I think it will open up so many doors for her creativity! Ian is amazing at playing, building, and creating with them so I often save this as a "when Daddy gets home, guess what you can do!" activity. We do have a rule to keep them on our carpet in our family room so that the noise isn't unbearable when they clatter out onto the tile.

Baby dolls and accessories also a big hit with both girls and when I am needing a little relief and mommy time is when I send them upstairs to be little mommies. We have a stroller and baby crib that gets used every day and most times their toy baskets are dumped out and makeshift beds are made for the extra baby dolls. My beloved American Girl Bitty Baby gets played with every day and I am getting closer and closer to telling my parents they can get the girls their own. But first I want them to be able to dress the dolls themselves. Because they bring them to me all day long asking for a wardrobe change and it just drives me crazy.

Activities: Bathtime is made more fun and lengthened by the addition of bath crayons, music, story time in the bath, or even water color paints (check them on your grouting though first and make sure it comes off!) Cooking is a crowd pleaser with our girls as they both get stools to help from and can do many of the basic tasks like pouring, stirring, and cracking eggs. Grace loves playing I Spy and both girls love a good dance party, especially to Frozen music. Coloring is becoming more loved with dot markers, crayons, or markers. Puzzles are fun as well, and Grace can do a 24 piece while Sophia is still working on a 3-4 piece cut out shapes puzzle.

Outings: We live in a mall oriented culture out here. Seriously. Everything is in a mall. Almost nothing is free standing. Grocery stores, pharmacies, movie theaters, restaurants, banks, and even medical facilities are all located in a mall. Most of the time we go to a mall to get out, even though we aren't doing much shopping. For awhile the girls were getting a treat every time we went out or went to the grocery store but I've tried to cut back on that because now they expect it! Our malls are massive, with wide walk ways, indoor playgrounds (and theme parks!) and places for the kids to move. They can even bring scooters or push cars in if they want, but I'm waiting until our kids are a little older and can understand respecting other people's toes and personal space.

The Honor of Servanthood

I've recently been drawn back into watching the television series "Downton Abbey." If you haven't seen it, a brief synopsis would be that it is a show about an aristocratic family, set in England, during the 1910's and 1920's. The show, however, focuses greatly on how the hired help functions and how their lives intersect with their employers'.

Before seeing this show, I hadn't put much thought into the servants of the elite class. I especially hadn't thought about how these servants were considered respectable because of their job placement. I suppose I had always equivilated servanthood with slavery- lowest class citizens in work related bondage, only they were slightly compensated.

The show paints a much different version of this situation though. It shows that these elite families, living in heir palatial houses with dozens of servants, owning hundreds of acres of land, and being well established in the community, were often the main employers for whole towns and villages. To become an employee as a chauffeur, footman, valet, or ladies' maid showed aptitude, training, and earned the servant a certain amount of respect from the community in general, both lower/middle class and the upper rung of society.

All of this has lead me to think on servanthood and our call to be like servants. So often I forget that there is indeed honor in servanthood. Not everyone can be the president of a company or the organizer of an event. There are always underlings who are quietly working away at a task at hand, going away without much thanks, never knowing if they are making a difference. Their position, and all that it entails may not be as glamorous, fashionable, or desirable as others, but hard work has been put in to becoming who they are and that, in and of itself is honorable.

We face the choice to be a servant every day,
as a wife,
mother,
daughter,
sister,
friend,
employee,
volunteer,
neighbor,

and in our relationship with God.

Our call to servanthood plays itself out again and again in the Bible, with over 700 references to servants and the story surrounding their masters and their actions. Often the servants go unnamed but their story and the impact of their work has been captured for all of history to see.

When it comes down to it, whether or not our reputation as a servant is honorable or not, all depends on the quality of work and the way in which we conduct ourselves in our work.

Big Sigh of Contentment

Despite the raging headache that has settled in behind my left eye {making me look pirate like with a squinty eye,} today has been absolutely wonderful.

It happened alot like I predicted it would in yesterday's post.

Got up, ate breakfast, edited and submitted my paper, worked out, showered and dressed, and commenced relaxation.

Ian and I had a picnic lunch in fron to the tv {leftover pizza and an episode of The Office, was on the menu,} and then that segwayed right into my Wrapping Extravaganza of 2009. I cleared off a huge area of floor, popped in season 7 of 24, and wrapped for the next three hours.

It was SO satisfying.

And then I went downstairs, made gingerbread cookies, decorated them with icing, and had dinner with my family.

Settled onto the couch with my pillow and pile of blankets {and my dad's laptop which is the only one with any sort of battery life,} to watch Ian play Call of Duty and to get caught up on blog reading.

*Sigh*

What a great day.

{on a side note, I did take pictures of some of today's activites, but my camera has been on the fritz all week. I can't wait until we get our first paycheck in January, because I'll be getting a new camera! Wahoo!}

We're Here

And we are hiding in our hotel room.

Not really hiding, just socially exhausted after a day of flying, friendliness, and meeting of some of our fellow Appointees.

That's what happens though when you have been unemployed for 6 months, and have been living in an unfamiliar town for 3 months! We're not really used to having to maintain conversations anymore (isn't that just pathetic?) and we were so beat after hanging out with new work buddies for only an hour or two!

We arrived in Louisiana around 3 and our hotel shuttle took awhile to get us all to the hotel. Our group got picked up around 5, we checked in, then Ian and I walked about a half mile away to a McAlistar's Deli for dinner (yum!)

Then we came back into the hotel and just crashed in front of mindless television (Say Yes to The Dress and, what I refer to as TV Crack, How It's Made, anyone agree?)

And now it's 9:30 and I am heading to bed, no questions asked.

Tomorrow will be a grueling day with a 6 hour long meeting on how to perfect our presentations, which wasn't mandatory, but somehow we got signed up for it.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Great Day

I had just the greatest day today!

It actually didn't start out so wonderful, now that I am thinking about it.

I woke with a pounding headache, that left me crying in bed at the sound of my hubby, you know, making noise in the kitchen. Then I was nauseous. Then I crawled to the bathroom to shower and I started to feel better.

But, after that, it all got better!

I read a little, did my hair, put on a new outfit, and hubby and I headed out for lunch.

We got soup, salads, and breadsticks at the Garden of Olives. It was wonderful.

We people watched and played the "Guess their Nationality," game.

Then we headed out to a new favorite place of ours.... The Book Attic. It's a used book store in Hendersonville, TN, and is one of the best stocked, well kept, used book stores I have been in!

I got a stack of about 8 books that I was wanting, then had to whittle it down.

I tossed one, because it was "dirty," within the first five lines.

I put back two because they are classics, and I could really find them whenever.

And I put one more back because it wasn't that great of a deal.

I ended up getting the first three books in "The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency," and A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens (for the November/December Bound to Books book club!) They all were in excellent (like new,) condition, and A Christmas Carol was even hardbound!

Then Ian took me to Krispy Kreme, because I have been craving them like none other!

It ended up being a little bit of a sugar overload (I only ate 1 and a half!) but since I don't eat sugar like that hardly ever, I got a little bit sick to my stomach.

Then we came back home, read for a little bit, watched last night's Grey's Anatomy (it was good!) and I passed out in a late afternoon nap.

My parents picked up pizza from a local place that we love, then we spent the evening playing Sequence together.

Sigh....

And now I have gotten caught up on most of my blog reading and am going to settle down to read my first book!

That or watch the latest Netflix movie. Let's see what hubby wants to do!

What a wonderful day.

Did anyone else have a good day?

Fall TV

I love TV.

That should really go without saying.

So you can imagine my joy and elation with this week being the season openers for alot of American television!

I can honestly say I used to be addicted to TV. In high school, I would watch endless hours of Friends, Gilmore Girls, CSI, Law and Order, The Bachelor, and a plethora of other time fillers. (how did I ever have time to do schoolwork?)

But now a days, I have toned back my love for television and I try to keep it under 4 hours of "must see," TV a week. And now, with cutting myself completely from J&K +8 (for ethical/moral/heart wrenching reasons, you see,) It's really down to only 3 hours a week!

Let me just preface all of this by saying this. Do ya'll remember two springs ago? Do you remember how the screen writers guild was on strike and how they stopped making tv shows for like, months? Do you remember how ridiculous that was? Whole TV seasons were cut down to being like 16 episodes because of greed. Sheesh. It still gets my cackles up thinking about it. What was worse was you would see actors sitting at the strikes with the screen writers, and you know the writers were just thinking "this could all be fixed if you (actor,) would just give me 1 million dollars!" ha.

Sorry.

I have other shows that I am interested in, but these are my "must see," shows...

The Office
Oh how this show makes me laugh. And laugh and laugh and laugh. It's become like a comfort blanket to me and I can't wait to see what this season brings! On a sadder note, my husband was recently told he reminded someone of Dwight. Ian was a little crushed. I told him it just was due to their high foreheads. I also think it might be because Ian thinks Dwight is funny he'll mimick Dwight and make jokes of Dwight, so if you don't know that he's making fun of him, you might think he IS actually Dwight!

Plus, how could you not love Jim and Pam. More specifically, Jim. He makes my heart melt, and I'm a married woman!

Need I say more? I love the Biggest Loser because of all the results you see. And, because I tend to lose weight when it is on air, because I am more aware of my food choices and activity level. Always nice. Plus, Jillian Michaels is just awesome. Ian and I swear we are going to put on 150 pounds just so we can get on the show. We'll blow everyone out of the water when we shed the weight super fast and then we will win $250,000 which will be nice.

My newest favorite....The Big Bang Theory
Being the Creationist that I am, I originally avoided this show purely because of its title. I mean... "the big bang theory," doesn't exactly scream "I'm a cleverly written comedy about four nerds with extremely high vocabularies living next to a {hot} young female neighbor!" now does it?
But it's so funny! My friend Katie recommended it to me, so, skeptical, Ian and I netflixed it and watched the whole season 1 in like 3 days. Tomorrow, season 2 is released on DVD so it will be coming via Netflix on Wednesday for us to catch up on! Season three starts next Monday night at 9:30 EST on CBS. It can be kinda slutty, but I choose to ignore that because, frankly, most shows are nowadays.
And, with only one season more to catch up on, I can't wait for the new season of 24 to come out in January!
What are your favorite Fall shows?

Power Rangers!

I am finally feeling some motivation! Or, maybe, Ian and I are at Sam's house and the boys are watching basketball, and I seriously loathe basketball. Ian does too, but he is good at faking. Me, not so much.

So, with a flip of my hair and a look of disgust, I have sequestered myself in Sam's room with his Mac.

(as a side note, I seriously loathe Macs as well, but whatev.)

I thought I would share a little memory with you. It brings chuckles/tears to me everytime I recall it.

It was 1994, and I was in second grade. Let me preface the story by telling you Power Rangers were all the rage, but I wasn't allowed to watch it for some reason, (why mom, why?!)

We were out on our wooded playground, doing our second grade thing during recess. The kids decided to play "Power Rangers," and I, wanting to play too, joined in.

We were all standing in a circle, and one by one, kids were placing dibs on the character they would portray.

"I'll be the white power ranger!"
"I'll be the black power ranger!"
"I'll be the pink power ranger!"

Then, fate stepped in as I opened my big, fat, uninformed mouth....

"I'll be the purple power ranger!"

Crickets could be heard.
Every face in the crowd turned and looked at me.
Then, some smarty pants spoke up with his most serious tone....

"Brittney, there IS no purple ranger."

Mortified, I dashed into the woods and hid behind a tree for the rest of recess.

I never tried to play power rangers again.

Seriously folks! It's funny, don't feel bad for me, though, when recalling it, I will sometimes feel the rush of emotions lil ol' me felt way back then.

KINGS

Tonight, NBC aired a new television show called "Kings." Ian and I decided it look really interesting and we decided we would give it a chance today, and decide if it would be worth following or not. You see, we really don't watch that many shows regularly. I watch Jon and Kate Plus 8 religiously, have Biggest Loser on but am usually multitasking during this time, and we both are enraptured with The Office, so really, only 2 shows.

I digress.

Within exactly 8 minutes, I noticed something peculiar.

The main character was visited by the national reverend and "anointed."
The main character's name was David Shepherd.
His mother's name is Jessie.
He is the youngest of 6 brothers.
He was sent to the battlefields, and took on the monster tank, named "Goliath."
He saved the king's son.

HAHAHAHA

Anyone recognize the story of David from the Bible?

I was immensely cheesed when I figured this out. (well it didn't take a genius that's for sure!)

I'm still undecided on if I like it or not. We'll see.

Congratulations Gators!!!

BCS National Champions

2008

University of Florida

Gators

I am so proud to say I have always been, and always will be a Gator fan. from my earlies memories my Dad was insane about the Gators, and I soon came to love them. I have to tell you, I had a slight 8 year old crush on Danny Wuerfel right before they one the championship in the Sugar Bowl in 1996.

And now! 12 years later and I am LIVING in Gator Nation! It was soooo incredible to be here in town when they were going for the SEC championship and then the National Championship. The people here go nuts!

Anyways. Here is to a great season Gators! And many more to come. And even if you have some rough spots, I will always love you.

Also. Ian is becoming more of a fan, and less embarressed of his Gator studentdom. I actually made him say "I am a Florida Gator," awhile back. It took quite awhile. But he's realizing the it's possible to like two teams, as long as you like one more than the other. And unfortunately, his heart may always lie with the Georgia Bulldogs.

Also, my Dad must still be the biggest fan. He wore his tattoos that I gave him AND he called me at 6:30 in the morning today to ask us to pick him up a paper (ok, so I wasn't so fond of him calling at 6:30 when I was up until almost 1 the night before, especially since it wasn't an "emergency," but whatev. And Ian wasn't too happy when, after I hung up, he called Ian's phone to make sure the message went across. Not cool because Ian was supposed to be sleeping in.) However he is still the biggest fan so I guess it is excusable. Just remember Dad, you only got away with it because I know you love the Gators!

10 Minutes and Counting

I have 10 minutes until I need to be in bed. Funny, as a child I never pictured my grown up self giving me a bedtime. But, I definitely need the sleep. I usually run on 8 hours of sleep- a steady, strong 8 hours. However these last 4-5 nights it has been more like 5-6 hours, plus the added stress of the new classroom/job, so I am in need of some R&R.

Speaking of class, today it was considerably better. Not good by any measure, but better than yesterday for sure. I have an optimistic outlook on this situation, and hopefully by the end of next week, they will have calmed down some. I have a delicate balance and scaring them with my sternness and wowing them with my utter awesomeness. We'll see how that works out.

Ian and I drove ALL the way to Jacksonville tonight, and back again, and got to try out Zaxby's for the first time. We were pretty impressed. They give you a ton of food for not so much money. Ian was just cheesed that they gave you "slush" ice in your drink-which apparently means for good chewing.

Time for Bed....and Gilmore Girls of course.

Goodbye Retail World

At least for now!

Today was my last day at the book store, and although I am very sad that we will not be getting my AMAZING employee discount, I am super excited to move on to bigger and better things.

Like starting teaching in 5 days!!

I go in on Thursday to substitute, then Monday, I start for real. That is, as long as the teacher doesn't go into labor before then. Otherwise, I'll be starting tomorrow, or Thursday, or Friday!

And now I am off to bed because my eyes are drooping and the house is cold.

Also, certain people on the Biggest Loser are insane.
And, I am very happy with this week's outcomes.
That is all.

"all by myself"

  • Ian is "up up and away," on his way to Budapest for a field trip for his Masters program. Quite a pricey field trip if you ask me.

Anyways, so I am left on my own, pondering the many things I am going to do with all of my free time. I'll start my week off by going to work in the school tomorrow and teaching a lesson using the book "Casey at the Bat," which is one of my alltime favorite children's poems, check it out! Then I am off to Orlando/Oviedo, to visit for the weekend. I should probably coordinate stuff, but I'll finish this post first.

Other things on my "things to do in order to fill the time" list, includes:

  • cleaning the floors (exciting eh?)
  • finish reading "The Giver" series
  • Read the new Jon and Kate Gosselin book
  • update my blog more often
  • Comment on other people's blogs
  • Watch ridiculous movies that Ian has no desire to watch with me but would probably watch just because he is sweet like that (camp rock, august rush, music and lyrics-don't scoff I'll enjoy every minute of them with my tub of cookie dough, that's right, TUB.)
  • Keep making those ornaments (pictures to come later.)
  • Get excited about girls weekend next week!
  • See what these video game systems are all about. Sam has two of his systems permanently stationed here, so I better learn to like them.
  • Get caught up on my Grey's Anatamy and maybe, maybe, Amazing Race
  • Write some letters to some deserving girls *cough* Courtney and Madison *cough* who so lovingly wrote me back. I was excited to tears to read their sweet notes.

More to come on the week of loneliness/productiveness

A Vow

"Ian, raise your right hand and repeat after me."

I, Ian Paisley Galloway
I, Ian Paisley Galloway
Do hearby promise
Do hearby promise
To not steal the sheets
To not steal the sheets......as much as I can help!

20 hours later and I am here to say, my husband stuck to his vow (yes I actually made him raise his right hand and promise this,) at least for one night. We'll see how much it sticks around!

And for the marking of four months of being married, we headed out to a restaurant, which Ian calls, "the crimson crustacean," for a much needed outing.

It was delicious, and I even ordered fish!

Ian got a supremely fishy tasty/smelling meal, which I stared at haughtily but didn't dare taste!

Below is a conversation I had with a customer today over her rewards card/coupon:

Me: Hi, is this all for today?
Her: Yes, but I forgot my coupon at home so if you can just give me one that would be great.
Me: I'm sorry, but I don't have any coupons,
Her: Yes you do, there are some in the trash! Just pull me one out.
Me: I'm sorry, but I am not allowed to dig through the trash to give you a coupon.
Her: Well the LAST cashier did!
Me: Well, I could get fired for giving you a discount you did not bring in.
Her: So you are telling me you are being a good two shoes?
Me: Yes ma'am, I am. I follow the rules so I can keep my job.
Her: *Huff* *Puff* Fine I'll just buy these somewhere else.
Me: Alright, have a great day! (but, being my stealthy perceptive self, I know she is all bluff)
Her: Fine, I'll get these, but I might not be coming back.
Me: Alright, (swipe her rewards card and find her bonus bucks) Ooo look, you have 5 in bonus bucks!
Her: REALLY? Sheesh this is why I love this store....... (long pause while I ring her up,) Well, we'll see if I ACTUALLY return to this store. You wouldn't even give me a discount.
Me: Um... alright. Have a great day!

Sheesh. People. Not that I am worried she's going to go anywhere else. There's only one other bookstore and it is on the other side of town, smaller, and more expensive. Yeah right.

Plus they don't have a stellar, goody two shoes, follows the rules, bonus buck finding, still smiling through a crises cashier. Sure she's going to another store.

*On a whole other note. I MIGHT have been barefoot during this entire transaction. Which I technically wasn't breaking any rules. I HAD my shoes, just not on me.*

Time to go watch the debate

Uneventful

Today my day was spent reading, working, cleaning, and working on our puzzle.

Oh, and listening to ridiculous people discuss politics in a very ignorant fashion. From both parties.

And apparently (according to these people) McCain is just going to fall over dead one day because of his four minor cases of melanoma.

Also, I finished the puzzle! I took a picture and then took it apart. I am so glad to have my family room floor back!

Ian had group meetings everyday this week after work and school, so it's basically just been me, on my own, all evening.

Dinners are a little eclectic. I mean, who wants to cook a WHOLE dinner just for yourself? And then not have the ingredients around to cook when there are actual human beings around.

Benefits of having husbandless evenings: lots and lots of DHC "multiples," shows and a little bit of animal cops. Both shows that he is not particularly found of.

Don't worry honey, I will watch Ultimate Fighting Champion later with you.

Taking up the Challenge

In one of the blogs I read, she challeged her readers to pick up their camera and document a week in your life. She also wanted people to scrapbook all of those pictures, but, um, I'm not taking that part of the challenge. Just part one.

So today, starting around 9, I read the blog, and picked up my camera. There may not be alot of typing oing on here (other than captions,) this week, but there sure will be alot of pictures! Want to join me in this challenge?
First thing in the morning, I stumble into the office and check email/news/blogs....
I then got my breakfast around, a newly remembered favorite- just sweet enough but I still feel like it's healthy-ish.
I sit down in front of our TV to watch something mindless (we don't have a table yet,)....
But, alas, there was nothing on, so I take my cereal and go to our room, where my old tv (with the dvd player,) holds a Gilmore Girl disc that I am watching.
Oh boy. Should I or shouldn't I bother washing my hair/ putting in my contacts? Nah, no hair washing. But contacts are definately a must.
My drawer of morning necessities may not look very organized, but, it's the only place in the house that looks like this. Besides.. what am I supposed to do? Have a dozen different baggies full of things?
Here begins the story that all of you married people will laugh and say "i've been there too." It all started when I started on Ian's birthday cake. Mixed the batter and realized I didn't have any round cake pans- except for my ones for cake decorating- but I've only used those a couple oftimes so I am not very used to them. Poured the batter in to two different sizes, put one pan in and then the other one, but it got stuck on the grating and FLIPPED into my oven door.
I think Ian thought I was going to have a heart attack. Not only was it in the hinges of my oven door and dripping down into my pan drawer, but the stuff on the door was beginning to BAKE from the heat of the oven (despite it being turned off.)
Luckily, I thought it was pretty funny, but it was definately that moment where "I just wanted to make him something special but it got ruined!"
It took me awhile to get it all out.
Then I had to whip out another cake mix. Thank goodness for BOGO.
Ian watching Rambo and checking his news sites.
Me joining him for a few minutes and asking a million questions about why a vietnam vet is running from the law in US soil and hurting cops. I just don't get it.
PJ's in the kitchen. Still working on the cake. I need more frosting. It wasn't BOGO. I'll pick that up tomorrow.
Fall candles to make our home look homey. As soon as possible I'm getting a fall wreath for the door. I've got my eye on you Target fall wreath. Just you watch.

Just a quickie...

It's been a good week and today has been pretty great.

Fall has definately arrived, though I have been told that it comes and goes for the next two months before settling in, just in time for Christmas, haha.

We have spent the last three days with the windows open, air off, and wondeful cinnamon candles burning to give us that "fall," smell. My momma used to put out those cinnamon brooms by the air intake and the whole house would just smell like deliciousness.

Today was pretty busy, but in a really relaxed way. I went shopping for Ian's birthday (next Wednesday,) and did my Target and Publix shopping as well. I did have to go back through the line 3 times at Target, only because I kept forgetting stuff, and since it IS a whole highway exit down from us, I figured I better take care of it now.
